When is World Paralysis Awareness Day? This day will take place on October 1 of each calendar year.
What is World Paralysis Awareness Day? “World Paralysis Day” will be a day that will serve as a reminder as we as a platform to trigger much needed awareness, conversations and opportunities for innovation and research around paralysis – to help prevent as well as cure it.
Unfortunately, there is not much awareness around it.
But there is a need with many affected around the world owing to several reasons.
So, this day is meaningful, needed and relevant to people across our world.
Why is this day being celebrated or observed? There are national or world days for strokes and other medical issues.
There is no national or world day existing for paralysis.
And this is despite 1 in 50 people being affected by some form of paralysis.
There needs to be conversation about this topic.
There needs to be more opportunities for awareness around paralysis.
And having a day helps create those opportunities for awareness, conversations and education.
How should this day be celebrated or observed? We would like people to talk more about paralysis.
We would like brands to educate people about paralysis and preventative measures.
We would like brands to create campaigns to invite innovations and R&D into preventing and curing paralysis.
Who created this day? This day was created in September 2021 by Dubai Science Park, by the team of Tahaab Rais and Saad Yusuf, and its symbol is designed by McCann Health Middle East.
