When will SIBO Awareness Day be celebrated? April 8th of each calendar year.

What is SIBO Awareness Day? Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) affects 1 in 9 people but is largely unknown and commonly misdiagnosed as IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). It is our mission to educate as many people as possible about SIBO and how to diagnose, treat and manage the disease. One of the greatest challenges to treating SIBO in America is the lack of awareness so this day represents a big step forward for SIBO patients everywhere.

How should SIBO Awareness Day be celebrated or observed? Overall, it’s less about celebrating as it is about raising the profile of this debilitating disease. It’s about educating yourself about the symptoms and diagnosis of SIBO and then finding a treatment or maintenance therapy that will work for you and bring back the joy in your life.

Why was SIBO Awareness Day created? We are launching siboawareness.org, a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness of SIBO and providing actionable and science backed resources for patients. We plan to launch siboawareness.org in conjunction with SIBO Awareness day this year.

Who created this day? This day was created by the non-profit, the Gut MIcrobiome Foundation.
