Why was Period Action Day created? Period poverty is a rampant issue in the US and around the world. It is important for people to know about the issue, and take action to learn more and address period poverty in their own communities. Nearly 1 in 4 U.S. students who menstruate struggle to afford period products. There are still over 20 states that tax period products, but not other things like Viagra or Cowboy Hats. About 800 million people around the world are menstruating on any given day, and periods are still WAY too pricey. We’re on a mission to eradicate the unjust tampon tax in the remaining United States.
