What is National Vulva Awareness Day?
SweetSpot Labs is on a mission to elevate intimate skin health. To serve this mission, the brand created National Vulva Awareness Day to bring awareness to the all-important (yet often overlooked and mis-represented) vulva.
Why is this day being created?
When this day was first created, in 2022, we finally freed ourselves from the history of oppression and “ick” surrounding women’s health and sexuality. But there’s still a huge lack of understanding and shame surrounding the vulva that has many unnecessary and avoidable consequences such discomfort, lack of pleasure, and misdiagnosis. With the creation of National Vulva Awareness Day, SweetSpot Labs hopes to help shine a light on the “vulva void” and erase any shame or stigma around this beautiful and powerful part of the body!
How should this day be observed?
Vulva Shame: Help Us #EraseIt
- Use Your Words: Try saying the word “vulva” out loud – even if it’s only to yourself in the mirror. The more we use it, the more normal we can make it!
- Look at Your Vulva: To know yourself is to love yourself! Take a peek at what you’ve got going on down there and remember that vulvas come in all sorts of shapes, colors and sizes – each beautiful in its own way.
