When will National Vending Day be celebrated? The first Thursday in March of each calendar year.
What is National Vending Day? National Vending Day celebrates the vibrant vending community, spotlighting the unsung heroes that bring beverages and non-consumable items to millions of American consumers every year. Vending is a core segment of the convenience services industry, which is an almost $35 billion industry in the US. Inaugurating a national day to honor vending will lend operators of these businesses the credence and appreciation that they deserve for their service to meeting customers where they are.
How should National Vending Day be celebrated or observed? This day is celebrated through social awareness campaigns, personally and professionally. In its recent iterations, National Vending Day has provided the opportunity for vending businesses to celebrate their accomplishments and raise societal knowledge about the convenience services industry. In the future, it would ideally be recognized on a larger platform to celebrate the unsung heroes of this often overlooked industry by the general public and within the vending community. We encourage the public to use this day to engage in vending, buying from a vending machine or micro market and learning more about the industry.
Why was National Vending Day created? From traditional vending to micro markets, unattended retail meets the needs of over 40 million American consumers daily at work, home, school, and play. The industry is about meeting people’s needs and providing consumer choice, and vending has long existed to answer this call. Many people consider vending the cornerstone of the convenience services industry. With a total economic impact of more than $34.9 billion, the convenience services industry employs over 160,000 hard-working Americans, pays $10.5 billion in wages, and contributes $3.5 billion taxes at every level of government.
Who created this day? This day was created by National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) in 2024.
