When will National Tuccelli Day be celebrated? June 19th of each calendar year.

What is National Tuccelli Day? Celebrates the remarkable contributions of Mike and Maureen Tuccelli, pioneers in fostering growth and inclusion within the American Sign Language (ASL) community. Their Silent Weekend Conference embodies a spirit of fun, education, and community-building, offering workshops tailored to all skill levels of ASL professionals. This holiday honors their dedication to advancing communication accessibility and foster a vibrant, inclusive ASL community. Their commitment to the Sign Language Community lasted 40 years since 1979, until the passing of Maureen in 2022.

How should National Tuccelli Day be celebrated or observed? We are continuing their legacy by continuing to host the Silent Weekend Conference under the name Hands Up Conference that will be hosted annually on the third weekend of July with between 300-400 attendees.

Why was National Tuccelli Day created? National Tuccelli Day was created to recognize and honor the significant impact of Mike and Maureen Tuccelli’s Silent Weekend Conference on the American Sign Language (ASL) Community. Their dedication to providing a platform for professional development, education, and community building deserves nationwide recognition. This day serves as a a reminder of their invaluable contributions and inspires others to continue promoting growth and inclusion with those that use ASL to communicate, personally and professionally.
