When is National SPAM Musubi Day? This day will take place on August 8 of each year.

What is National SPAM Musubi Day? The big day for SPAM® musubi and everyone across the U.S. who loves the popular and beloved any-time-of-day Hawai‘i comfort-food snack is August 8 — is L&L Hawai‘i National SPAM® Musubi Day!

Haven’t personally experienced the culinary joys SPAM® musubi yet? Today’s your lucky — and, really, best — day to discover one of Hawai‘i’s favorite any-time-of-day go-to comfort foods and indulge in its mouthwatering tastiness. Its ingredients and design are sublime simplicity. Take a single, savory slice of SPAM®, grilled to semi-crisp perfection in a teriyaki or soy-sauce glaze, and place it on a palm-sized block of warm, fluffy white rice. Wrap the block of rice and SPAM® together with a crisp, umami-rich ribbon of dried seaweed — aka nori — and enjoy!

Why is this day being celebrated or observed? During last year’s festivities, we made over 30,000 SPAM® musubi across the nation, which — to us — is a clear indication of the adoration our customers have for this Hawai‘i comfort food favorite,” said Elisia Flores, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue chief executive officer. We hear everyone loud and clear, and we’re excited to once again show that same appreciation and love back to our customers this year with another round of FREE SPAM® musubi!

How should this day be celebrated or observed? Enjoy SPAM® musubi yourself at home. Your best bet today, however, is to stop by your nearest L&L location and have them make one for you. For free.
