When will National Screen Time Awareness Day be celebrated? August 30th of each calendar year.

What is National Screen Time Awareness Day? The primary objectives of this national day are to:

  • Raise awareness about the significance of balanced screen/device usage and how an imbalance negatively affects the well-being of countless individuals.
  • Encourage mindfulness in individuals on what online content they decide to consume, and making a healthy habit of saying no to excessive doom scrolling.

How should National Screen Time Awareness Day be celebrated or observed? Assess your own total screen time, and where you have spent it – has it helped your well being or not for the day? Put an “X” on your thumb as a sign to “say no” to doomscrolling and engage in productive/helpful screen use.

Why was National Screen Time Awareness Day created? Unbalanced screen time is a crisis that requires urgent attention. As screens become increasingly prevalent in this world, we must strike a balance between the pitfalls of endless scrolling and productive ways to use our devices. This day will hopefully raise some awareness about the dangers of unbalanced/excessive screen time and mark a turn in the right direction.

Who created this day? This day was created by Krish Chauhan in 2023.
