When is National Save the Eagles Day?

January 10th is Save the Eagles Day.

What is National Save the Eagles Day?

A soaring eagle, it’s the living image of boldness. In fact, eagles inspire inspirational posters to be inspirational. (Disclaimer: that might not be true.) National Save the Eagles Day honors these magnificent creatures and advocates for their protection.

Both bald eagles and golden eagles are native to North America, though golden eagles also live throughout much of the northern hemisphere. The U.S. national bird is the bald eagle, and bald eagles were finally removed from the list of endangered animals in 2007.

They still need protection though. Poaching and pollution threatens eagles. And when eagles eat animals that have been shot with buckshot, they could get lead poisoning. National Save the Eagles Day reminds us to care for these breathtaking birds.
