When is National Relaxation Day? August 15th

What is National Relaxation Day? National Relaxation Day is a day to slow down. Rest isn’t exactly a virtue in the west. At least, it isn’t a virtue that we observe very well. We love things fast, easy, and often artificial. Today is the day we unplug! We let go of our addiction to our cellphones and the need to be checking our email, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Today we practice just being present to those around us and attentive to ourselves. Today, we relax!

Fun Facts about National Relaxation Day! Today was begun in 1985 by Sean Moeller, a fourth grader!

How to celebrate National Relaxation Day: Much like motor-oil, stimulation can come in ways that are cleaner for us than other ways. We can run off of artificial stimulation, but much like artificial sugar, over time it begins to have serious side effects. Numerous studies show that artificial stimulation (Tv, computer, cellphone, etc.) can drastically impact our cortisol levels and stress can impact your overall health. The key to proper rest is to cut off artificial stimulation and do natural things.
