When will National Pimm’s Cup Day be celebrated? July 1st of each calendar year.
What is National Pimm’s Cup Day? The Pimm’s Cup was first introduced to America by Uncle Joe Impastato, the visionary founder of Napoleon House in the New Orleans French Quarter in 1914. With a discerning palate that leaned away from potent alcoholic beverages, Impastato became acquainted with the Pimm’s Cup during his travels in England, a refreshing, low-alcohol libation perfect for summer. As the first establishment in America to offer Pimm’s Cups, Napoleon House surpassed global sales records, second only to the historic London bar that birthed this iconic drink. Throughout the world, friends and family come together to cheer and celebrate with the delightful cocktail.
How should National Pimm’s Cup Day be celebrated or observed? Restaurants and bars worldwide will feature Pimm’s Cups and various interpretations of it (seasonal flavors, Frozen Pimm’s Cups, etc.) on their menus. Guests and fans will post photos and videos of their dining experiences with the classic cocktail online. Coinciding with the first day of Wimbledon, Napoleon House will celebrate in honor of its most popular cocktail, and toast to the release the summer seasonal Frozen Pimm’s Cup.
Visually appealing with its bright colors and festive garnishes, guests seek out Napoleon House for the eye-catching cocktail. Owned and operated by Ralph Brennan since May of 2015, the Pimm’s Cup tradition remains at Napoleon House 110 years later and in restaurants and bars around the world.
Why was National Pimm’s Cup Day created? The refreshing ingredients and light, fruity flavor profile make Pimm’s Cups highly sought after in the New Orleans climate. Typically mixed with lemonade or lemon-lime soda and served over ice, it has a crisp and effervescent quality that makes it perfect for hot days. Pimm’s flights can be seen throughout the Napoleon House dining room, as the use of fresh fruits like strawberries, oranges, lemons, and cucumbers are used in special seasonal Pimm’s Cups.
Who created this day? This day was created by Napoleon House in 2024.
