Our hope is to host a big in-store celebration, but we also want people and communities to make it their own. Why was National Loon Day created? National Loon Day was created to celebrate the loon, a bird that holds a special place in Minnesota and across the Midwest. 2026 marks 65 years since the loon became Minnesota’s state bird, and that milestone felt like the perfect time to honor it. As a Minnesota-based brand, we’ve created loon-inspired designs and have seen how strongly people connect with this bird and what it represents. On a personal level, I’ve always loved loons, and creating a national day is a meaningful way to share that appreciation and invite others to celebrate too.
