National Kettlebell Day

When is National Kettlebell Day? This day will take place on January 12 of each calendar year.

What is National Kettlebell Day? National Kettlebell Day celebrates the use of the kettlebell as a fitness tool. We want more and more people to want to use a kettlebell, and not be afraid of it in the gym.

Why is this day being celebrated or observed? Amy Moreland, the co-creator of Kettlebell AMPD, designed a group fitness program using kettlebells, and it is the only group fitness program that is choreographed using kettlebells. We want to show that kettlebells can be a fitness tool used by everyone from all walks of life and all fitness levels. We want to encourage movement and healthy lifestyles while using a kettlebell as a tool. The versatility is what makes the kettlebell so unique because you can really do dozens and dozens of exercises with one piece of equipment. January 12th is Amy’s birthday, so it only seems appropriate that National Kettlebell Day is on her birthday!

How should this day be celebrated or observed? Spotlight group fitness classes and individuals on social media who are using kettlebells as fitness tools, and use kettlebells yourself to work out!

Who created this day? This day was created in February 2021 by AMPD Strong.
