A Harbormaster is an official responsible for enforcing the regulations of a particular harbour or port, in order to ensure the safety of navigation, the security of the harbour and the correct operation of the port facilities. National Harbormaster Appreciation Day is a time when coastal communities can come together to recognize and celebrate local harbormasters around the country. Harbormasters are key to ensuring the safety and quality of our experiences on the water. They perform vital roles; providing services while educating people on the use of our coastal waters.
