It will serve as a special reminder to all Godparents of how fortunate we are to have our Goddaughters in our lives. This day provides the perfect opportunity to express our gratitude, celebrate who our Goddaughters are, and honor the amazing individuals they are becoming. Whether through words, gifts, or simply spending quality time together, National Goddaughters Day can be a meaningful way to show our Goddaughters just how deeply they are loved, cherished, and celebrated.
Why was National Goddaughters Day created? Ever since my goddaughter, Brooke, passed away in June of 2024, I’ve been searching for a meaningful way to honor her life. One day, I randomly Googled whether there was a National Godchild’s Day—and to my surprise, I discovered there wasn’t. The idea of creating a day, dedicated to Brooke, felt incredibly special. Brooke passed on June 27, 2024, after a courageous 2.5-year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. At just 16 years old, she was one of the most selfless people I’ve ever known. Even in her darkest moments, she was always thinking of others and asking about their well-being. Her strength and tenacity during her time in the hospital was nothing short of inspiring, and despite her battle, she never allowed cancer to define her. Brooke lived each day with an infectious smile, embracing life to the fullest! National Goddaughters Day will be a day to celebrate her, on her birthday, July 29th. It will be a day to honor the light she continues to send down, and to reflect on the incredible impact she had on everyone who knew her.
