What is Flag Day?
The handiwork of Betsy Ross has made its way across the globe. Folks from every country recognize this symbol for the ol’ U.S. of A. In celebration of the American republic and all it stands for, Flag Day honors the American flag on the anniversary of its adoption.
The American flag has changed little over the years, but it has grown. The Second Continental Congress adopted the U.S. Flag on June 14th, 1777. Since the original thirteen colonies became thirteen states, the U.S. has had twenty-six official flags.
The American dream, at a basic level, is “liberty and justice for all.” So raise the banner on Flag Day, and celebrate the American way.
