When is this day celebrated? May 23
What is this day?
Drinking with Chickens is, in itself, a celebration of the farm-to-table/farm-to-glass movement. Literally, it is about happy hour-ing in your own backyard (or the next best thing) with a fresh-from-the-garden cocktail or mocktail, while you watch the chickens chickening about. Since its inception in 2016, Drinking with Chickens has amassed an enthusiastic following of people that seek out just this type of “happy place” both in their own homes, as well as in their vacation destinations (so, it does not actually require one to own chickens, just seek them out along with the lifestyle that usually comes with).
Why is this day being created?
This day is being created as an extra special excuse to celebrate and bring awareness to the ever-growing community of people that have embraced the garden happy hour lifestyle that Drinking with Chickens has created.
Who founded this day? This day was founded by Kate Richards, founder of Drinking with Chickens, in 2019.
How should this day be celebrated or observed?
This day should be celebrated by responsibly drinking cocktails/mocktails with your favorite friends (or hey, alone, if you prefer) in a garden, backyard, farm, vineyard, outdoor bar setting, ideally with chickens milling about (as chickens typically do).
