When will National Day of Racial Repair be celebrated? June 19th of each calendar year.

What is National Day of Racial Repair? The National Day of Racial Repair will observe the end of slavery in the United States and inspire all Americans to individually and collectively mend the harms of systemic racism. Juneteenth is a newly adopted Federal Holiday that commemorates the day in 1865 enslaved people learned of their freedom under the enforceable Emancipation Proclamation.

How should National Day of Racial Repair be celebrated or observed? This day should be celebrated by Americans who commit to having honest dialogue and conversations about the need to repair and restore relations that seek to divide based on varying cultures, ethnicities, and races. The day can be celebrated by supporting charitable organizations, civic activities, and community volunteer engagement opportunities.

Why was National Day of Racial Repair created? This day is being created to encourage all Americans to look back in reverence to the gruesome sacrifices made by enslaved Americans and to unite our country in moving forward with renewed commitments to actualize the ideals of America to include Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. This day bridges our past, present, and future–with a call to action to repair the ills of slavery.
