When will National Ceramides Day be celebrated? August 13th of each calendar year.

What is National Ceramides Day? National Ceramides Day celebrates the essential role of ceramides in maintaining a strong, healthy skin barrier. First introduced to skincare by Elizabeth Arden over 35 years ago, ceramides are naturally occurring lipids that help lock in moisture, protect against environmental stressors, and support youthful, resilient skin. This day honors the innovation that transformed skincare science and continues to inspire people around the world to protect and restore their skin’s natural balance. In addition, ceramides continue to be the star, the innovation and part of the legacy of the Elizabeth Arden brand and we want to celebrate that!

How should National Ceramides Day be celebrated or observed? National Ceramides Day can be celebrated by focusing on skin barrier awareness and education. Consumers will be encouraged to take a “Barrier Health Moment” — evaluating their current routines, learning about ceramides, and choosing products that help replenish and strengthen the skin’s natural defenses. Beauty professionals and skincare educators can host mini workshops, masterclasses, or online tutorials about the role of ceramides in maintaining hydrated, balanced, and youthful skin. Social media campaigns, virtual events, and in-store experiences can unite the global beauty community in celebrating the science and innovation behind skin barrier health.

Why was National Ceramides Day created? Elizabeth Arden pioneered the use of ceramides in skincare in 1990, introducing the world’s first encapsulated ceramide serum and setting a new standard for skin barrier health. Though ceramides are now widely recognized, many people still don’t understand their vital function or how to replenish them as we age. National Ceramides Day is being created to educate and empower consumers and professionals to prioritize barrier health as the foundation of beautiful, healthy skin. It will celebrate Elizabeth Arden’s heritage of innovation and reinforces the brand’s ongoing commitment to advancing skin wellness through science.

Who created this day? This day was created by Elizabeth Arden in 2025.
