When is National Above the Bus Day? This day will take place on October 5 of each calendar year.

What is National Above the Bus Day?

National Above the Bus Day acknowledges all the people in our lives (coworkers, friends, family, and others) we wish to spotlight for great behavior. In stark contrast with those days when people are thrown “under the bus,” this day leans into celebrating accomplishments, milestones, and other achievements that make people great—and that make the rest of us great, too.

Why is this day being celebrated or observed?

Most people have good intentions behind the things they do, but not always. Sometimes, because of this, people get thrown under the bus. Not enough days selflessly elevate and celebrate the achievements of people who are doing good things—especially if those things are small and unnoticed. National Above the Bus Day helps us focus on those amazing individuals and their deeds.

How should this day be celebrated or observed?

The sky is the limit, as long as the recipient wouldn’t mind a little public recognition. If someone you know did a big or good thing, then take to your social media, text messages, emails, or anywhere else, and let the world know. Remember, this is about *that person* and not you, so put them as far “above the bus” as you can!
