National #24 Day honors Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, who were killed in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, at the ages of 41 and 13.
Kobe Bryant was an NBA basketball all-star who played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 20 seasons. He helped them win 5 NBA championships. Bryant, who was 6’6” tall, primarily played as a shooting guard, and was known for his highly effective jump shot. He has been called the “greatest of all time” in basketball history, and was the youngest player in league history to reach 30,000 career points. He retired in 2016 with multiple MVP awards and even gold medals from Olympic basketball games. He was married to Vanessa Bryant and had four daughters.
Bryant and his daughter were on their way to a girls’ basketball game in which Gianna was to compete when the helicopter they were flying in crashed and killed them and 7 other people.
