International Civility For the Girl Child Day

When is this day? October 13

What is this day?

International Civility For the Girl Child Day is built on the concept of the Golden rule, Civility, Image and Leadership. It is a day where Every Girl Child should be encouraged to find her voice, embrace her flaws, and develop the capacity to lead others unapologetically with her Girlpower.

This day was created based on the Sustainable Development Goals of UN Women #5 :

  • Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
  • End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere.
  • Eliminate all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation.

This Day was created as a reminder that every girl and woman ought to be celebrate, regardless of color, age, race and economic status, must be able to express her views, live free of violence and discrimination and have a fair chance to reach her potential. It seeks to restore the dignity and the honor in the life of the Girl Child, in order for them to Embrace their Uniqueness and exude Greatness.

Who created this day? This day was created by Louisa Akaiso in 2020.

How should this day be celebrated? It should be celebrated as a day of affirmation where everyone around the world extends a hand of Kindness to the Girl Child. It is also a day where Every group, organisation and Community and Family help to validate that every Girl is Enough and must be given an equal opportunity to serve.
