100 Mile'R Day

When will 100 Mile’R Day be celebrated? April 10th of each calendar year.

What is 100 Mile’R Day? A day to celebrate the individuals who run 100 mile Ultra Marathons races. It should also be known as “Buckle Day,” as 100 mile race finishers are awarded a belt buckle.

The dedication to train and the lifestyle change of becoming someone who takes on the challenge of running 100 miles is an enormous feat and those individuals should be celebrated. Running a 100 mile race doesn’t begin with their first race being at 100 miles, it usually starts with 50 Kilometer races then to 100 Kilometers. So this day should also be used to celebrate everyone who takes on running distances past the 26.2 mile marker.

How should 100 Mile’R Day be celebrated or observed? This day should be celebrated on April 10th, the 100th day of the year.

We are planning to have a backyard Ultra in downtown Excelsior Springs Missouri, running 4 miles every hour. Millionaire shortbread cake and espresso will be the treats of choice for these exceptional people.

Why was 100 Mile’R Day created? This day was created for everyone who has completed a 100 mile marathon. The percentage of the population that has completed this distance is a thousandth of a percent. It takes dedication and will to complete an ultra and to finish it. These unique individuals need to be celebrated.

Who created this day? This day was created by Jody Pasalich in 2026.
