What is National MDR Day? MDR stands for Medical Device Representative. Having been one for over 20 years and celebrating nurses week, PA week and many others I felt it was time for MDR’s to be celebrated as well. MDR’s work hard in the operating room assisting surgeons and staff with education and providing support to the medical equipment they represent.
Why is this day being created? It has been said it is a lifestyle not just a job. MDR’s are not celebrated but they are on call 24/7 to address the needs of the Hospital, Surgeon and staff to get the products required for surgery. This call can come at anytime day/night, weekend and holiday. The unsung heroes that directly effect patient care but have not been recognized.
How should this day be observed? Creating this day brings awareness to what MDR’s do and their value.
