When is National Women In Aerospace Day? This day will take place on May 20 of each calendar year.

What is National Women in Aerospace Day? A national day to celebrate women of the aerospace industry including all of the segments like commercial aviation, defense, UAV, helicopters, and space. There is so much happening in the industry right now and a huge amount of women who’ve contributed to this industry that’s vital to the U.S. Economy. They should be celebrated! Women like Harriet Quimby, Bessie Coleman, Amelia Earhart, and the persona “Rosie the Riveter”, just to name a few, and we should celebrate all of the past present and future women that have made this contribution.

Why is this day being celebrated or observed? This day is being created to pay credence to the women past, present, and future that have had huge roles in the aerospace community. This would also help the industry create more access to women and girls that feel like the industry might not be accessible to them by creating a buzz around the incredible women and their roles in the industry and how they can do it too!

How should this day be celebrated or observed? Very similar to International Women’s day where we appreciate all of the women in the industry and pay homage to the women that came before us.

Who created this day? This day was created in August 2021 by Nikki Malcom.
