What is International Bellini Day?

A DAY TO CELEBRATE GIUSEPPE CIPRIANI’S TIMELESS ICON

  • The Original Bellini: Cipriani’s Signature Cocktail: A refreshing, smooth blend of real white peach puree and premium Prosecco
  • The story of the Bellini dedicated to freedom: In 1948, war and liberation were vivid memories in people’s hearts. It was during this period that Giuseppe Cipriani, in the newly opened Harry’s Bar, decided to celebrate peace and freedom with a cocktail that embodied the energetic joy of the moment: the Bellini. The Bellini’s name was inspired by the famous Italian Renaissance painter Giovanni Bellini, also known as Giambellino. After seeing his lifework collection on display at the Ducal Palace in Venice in 1948, Giuseppe Cipriani used the artist’s namesake to honor the ideals of beauty and freedom. Thus, the Bellini became a part of history as a classic, an eternal symbol of freedom, art, and refined revelry.
  • Taste: From the first sip of sparkling confidence, savor the fresh sweetness of ripe peach with the balance of acidity and citrus notes from the Prosecco.

How should International Bellini Day be celebrated or observed? By enjoying a Bellini of course! Whether at home or at a bar, Cipriani’s original recipe is easy to make with only two ingredients, fresh white peach puree, and premium prosecco. You can make your own or enjoy Cipriani’s ready to serve Cipriani Bellini available nationally.

Why was International Bellini Day created? To celebrate the heritage and history of the original Bellini created in 1948 as a celebration of peace after world war II. Cipriani would like to celebrate and promote the new Bellini cocktail in the US, as well as all of the countless Americans who already enjoy it but don’t know where it is from.

Who created this day? This day was created by Cipriani in 2024.
